Bedroom
In your bedroom, positioning the unit to avoid blowing cold air directly onto you is essential, as many find this uncomfortable and may wake up with a dry throat. Depending on the room’s shape, placing the unit on the side of the bed is optimal, especially in a rectangular room where it’s best along one of the longer sides. Central placement ensures even distribution of cooling.
Kitchen
For the kitchen, installing the AC away from the oven and hob is advisable to facilitate air circulation and prevent interference with cooking processes. This placement also prevents cooking fumes from entering the unit, minimising the need for frequent filter cleaning.
Living Room
In the living room, it’s crucial to avoid direct airflow onto occupants, so refrain from placing the unit directly above the TV. This positioning not only enhances comfort but also safeguards the TV from potential water droplets from the AC unit.
You’ve made the decision to install an AC system and are seeking guidance on where to place it. Several factors need consideration, including the number of units, room layout, and external heat sources. These considerations are crucial for maximising your investment. Let’s explore some best practices and placement examples based on room type, size, and layout.
Best Practices for Air Conditioner Placement:
- Opt for the North or East Side: Ideally, position your air conditioner on the north or east side of your home. This choice minimises direct sunlight exposure during peak heat hours, enhancing energy efficiency and cooling performance.
- Avoid Proximity to Heat Sources: Keep your AC unit away from heat-emitting sources like light bulbs, refrigerators, and TVs. Such proximity can distort temperature readings, causing the system to overwork and inflate energy bills unnecessarily.
- Maintain Unobstructed Airflow: Ensure unimpeded airflow around the AC unit. Avoid placing it above wardrobes, doors, or near electronic devices to prevent hindrances in air circulation, which can lead to higher energy consumption.
- Install at a High Position: Mounting the AC unit high on the wall maximises its efficiency since hot air naturally rises. This placement facilitates quicker cooling of the room compared to lower installations.
- Choose a Central Location: Opt for a central placement within the space you frequent rather than strictly the centre of a wall. This ensures even distribution of cooling throughout the area, promoting balanced comfort.
The cost of running an air conditioning system is determined by several different factors, not least the type of air conditioning unit, its output and the size and layout of the property.
To calculate the cost of running your air conditioner per hour, you can utilise an electricity cost calculator. Simply enter the wattage of your chosen AC unit and ‘1’ (hour) into the calculator to obtain an estimate of the cost.
It’s important to bear in mind that the actual cost of operating an air conditioner can vary based on several factors, including the wattage level, the room size, and the efficiency of the unit itself. To obtain a precise cost estimate, it is recommended to consult a professional and request an air conditioning quote before installing the unit in your home.
On average, however, here’s how much, based on the current energy price cap cost (Jan 2024), our popular Samsung Cebu units.
Air Conditioning Unit Cost to run per hour
Samsung CEBU 2.5kW £0.73 p/h
Samsung CEBU 3.5kW £1.02 p/h
Samsung CEBU 5.0kW £1.45 p/h
Samsung CEBU 6.5kW £1.88 p/h
Air Conditioner Trunking is necessary for air conditioning installation and repair, protecting your piping, wiring and cables. Trunking ensures the air conditioning system doesn’t suffer accidental damage.
With an advanced manufacturing process, the trunking is flame-retardant rating is up to the V0 level. That means it can be self-extinguished after leaving the fire. Also, the trunking has ultra-high electric resistance which can resist 2000V voltage without breakdown.
The Trunking only uses high-quality PVC as raw materials, so it has no peculiar smell and features acid, alkali and UV resistance. Thus, it can effectively protect the air conditioning circuit and prolong its service life.
Air Conditioner Trunking is made through modular seamless splicing, so it is easy to install. As the whole process is sealed and jointed tightly so it can isolate air convection, eliminate noise, and protect the wiring from the damage by pests and rodents. If the Air Conditioner Piping System is protected with the Air Conditioner Trunking, the entire system will look cleaner and more beautiful.

Clear away the areas where you will have your units installed. For the indoor unit, ensure that the installer can reach the wall area, and the surrounding area is clear of clutter, or any valuables that could break easily. For the outdoor unit, ensure the area is cleared away and there are no obstacles.
Your installation should take no longer than 1 day. If there are unforeseen complications, the installation may take longer.
We will show you the recommended air conditioning units based on the answers you gave us, so if you are seeing multiple packages, you could have any of these as well as any other manufacturer units based on your personal brand preference. If you want a brand that is not supplied in the quote, just ask us via Live Chat or support@climateworks.co.uk and we can provide you with a quote.
The difference will be in the power of the unit needed for your room, or area, and brand. Where you are presented with options of more than 1 power size (kW), the higher power size is seen as an upgrade option if you want more power.
Yes, you can if you are looking for wall-mounted units for your commercial space. Just go through the questionnaire and select ‘commercial’ when asked.

You can have the outdoor unit fitted anywhere on your property, as long as the location meets the following criteria:
- There is at least 1 meter clearance around where the unit will be, e.g. no other walls, fences etc
- You have the freeholders’ permission to have the unit placed there
Also, if you have vegetation within a meter of the outdoor unit, the heat from the unit may cause the vegetation to die off.
We suggest having your outdoor unit floor-mounted or wall-mounted low, on the same wall as where the indoor unit is, if possible.
Yes, you do need the outdoor unit for the indoor unit to work.
Yes, you can. All the air conditioning units we sell come with the ability to heat, as well as cool. This is the beauty of them. Boiler breaks down, no worries, your AC unit can take over to heat your home.
We do not sell air conditioning without installation included. You need an FGas-qualified engineer to fit your air conditioning unit, which is why installation comes as standard with all our packages.
You will receive your indoor unit, outdoor unit, a remote control, trunking, copper pipe, insulation, and electrical cable as standard, plus any extra bits you need depending on what you answered while using our online questionnaire, such as a specialist wall bracket etc.
The size of the unit you need is dependent mainly on the size of the room, though there are some other considerations like how much sunlight the room gets.
Use our online quote questionnaire to find your suggested air conditioning unit, and contact us if you need any help.
Wall-mounted air conditioning units offer exceptional cooling capacity. They excel at air filtration, effectively removing dust and pollen from the environment. While the initial purchase cost of a wall-mounted air conditioner may be higher, the long-term savings on energy and utility bills become increasingly evident.
Contemporary wall-mounted air conditioning units feature a sleek design that enhances the aesthetics of any space. This is in stark contrast to other air conditioning models, such as portable air conditioners, which often fail to complement the room’s overall design.

The indoor unit of the air conditioning system draws in the room’s air, which then passes over a condenser cooled by a refrigerant gas. Subsequently, the chilled air is recirculated back into the room, while the warm air is expelled through the outdoor unit. This cycle persists until the room achieves the desired temperature.
*It’s crucial to ensure adequate clearance around the wall-mounted unit to facilitate smooth airflow.
Professional installation by an F-Gas-certified technician is essential for wall-mounted air conditioning units. They offer the advantage of saving floor space and operating more quietly and efficiently than portable air conditioners.
Many wall-mounted air conditioning units are equipped with a heat pump function, allowing them to provide both cooling and heating, making them versatile 2-in-1 units. A user-friendly remote control is often included for convenience.
The integration of advanced controls and a heat pump enables modern split air conditioning units to effectively “climate control” a room, maintaining it at the desired temperature.
Most wall-mounted air conditioners now feature various control modes and timers, enabling users to pre-program the unit’s operation, including the direction and oscillation of the louvres.
Inside the indoor unit, an air filter operates continuously to purify the air and safeguard the coils against dust and bacteria particles. Some systems include UV Nano technology which uses UV light and an Ionizer to kill some bacteria.
