Residential Air Conditioning

How Long Does Air Conditioning Take to Heat a Room?

You walk into a cold room. The temperature is 14°C. You switch the air conditioning to Heat mode and select 20°C. How long should it take before the room is warm? As with cooling, there is no universal answer. You may begin feeling warm air from the indoor unit within several minutes. But raising the temperature of the entire room takes longer. The system needs to warm: The room air Walls Floor Ceiling Furniture Bedding Glazing And while it is doing that, the building is continuously losing heat to the colder conditions outside. For many normal residential rooms, you may notice a meaningful improvement within 10 to 20 minutes. Bringing the complete room to the selected temperature may take 30 to 60 minutes or longer. Garden rooms, conservatories, loft conversions and rooms starting from particularly low temperatures can take considerably longer. The important question is not how quickly hot air appears from the indoor unit. It is whether the system has been correctly selected to bring the room under control and maintain it comfortably.
